Can you describe yourself in 1 word?

Dedicated

How did you start interior designing?

I started doing interior design from a young age, though at the time I did not realize that was what it was called. I loved re-arranging my room, and I always strived to make spaces around me as beautiful as possible. In college I ended studying event planning and public relations. Once I graduated and began organizing events, I realized my favorite portion of my job was coordinating the decor of the event. After contemplating this discovery, I ended up going back to school and studying interior design. That is when my passion really came to light. I loved every aspect of it, and after I did my first project, I realized there was no going back. I have been doing interior design ever since and I love it more each day.

When did you start the woodbury home?

I began doing solo projects around three years ago. However, The Woodbury Home was officially established in 2024. I found two amazing business partners and together we created the official ‘The Woodbury Home’ brand and launched.

What is your specific design style?

We describe our design style as 'Organic Coastal Calm,’ described as a fusion of coastal with mid-century modern. The color palette is dominated by neutral tones with soft pops of color, creating both light and moody tones.

Who is a part of your team?

I have two other business partners and members of the team. They happen to be sisters. First is Riley Strickland. She is our amazing Project Manager. She handles all the details behind the scenes and she is also the first person you speak with if you are interested in working with us. The other member of the team is Marie Strickland, who does our email marketing and is our Outreach Director. Marie is our social butterfly and really does an amazing job spreading the word about The Woodbury Home. I work as the Lead Designer and Creative Director. I make sure all the pieces come together to create a special and beautiful space for your home.

What projects have you worked on so far?

We have been so fortunate to work on several projects both remote and in person in our first year of business. Some of our favorite projects included a beach cottage kitchen renovation, and a virtual house remodel which ended up being so dreamy.

What is the interior design process?

We have broken down our design process into eight phases. The first is connecting, where we see if we are a good fit for one another. Here we get to know your needs and wants for your space and talk about your hopes for your home. If this all lines up, we move on to the second phase. The second phase is what we call ‘making it official.’ Here all the i’s are dotted and contracts are signed. Once this phase is concluded, we are officially in business together and on to the third phase which is our ‘site visit’ phase. Here we go to your home and get all the measurements and details we need in order to begin to design phase.
The fourth phase is our ‘mood board’ phase. You get to see your vision start to come to life here. This board will set the tone for the rest of the project. After the board is approved we move to phase five, which is the most detailed step. This is the documentation and presentation phase. This is where we come up with all the floorpans, electrical plans, lighting schedules, paint schedules and furniture + accessory choices. Here you really get to see the whole vision. Once this phase is presented and approved, we move on to the final phases of the process.Phases six through eight are item procurement, construction (if needed) and install and styling. Once the install day is complete, we get to hand over the dream space. Our process has been refined and it allows us to help clients in a clear and achievable manner.

What projects do you have up and coming?

We are beyond excited about our upcoming projects. We will be continuing with our #ATouchofGreen project. We just finished the entryway, but will be renovating the entire home. It is so exciting to see it all come together. Our #WhisperingOcean new build virtual design project will be coming to an end soon as well. It has been two and a half years since this project started, so we are so thrilled to be able to see the final result. Finally, we have our #MeadowsbytheSea project this year as well. It will be so amazing to show the full house once it is all done. It truly is such a magical space.

Can you tell us what interiors are popular in 2024?

Trends are ever-changing. What we have noticed is moody interiors are definitely back in. Moody natural lighting, darker woods and statement marble counter tops are on trend right now. But we always say follow your heart when it comes to designing your home. It doesn’t matter if it is on trend as long as you love it.

What would you tell someone who is interested in interior design?

“If you have a passion for it, anything is possible. It takes hard work and dedication, but if you are willing to keep going and learning, all the pieces will fall into place. Do not let the fear of feeling like you don’t know enough hold you back. We are all learning constantly and this career truly is worth it if you love it.”
